Wendy Meekins at Pathway to Healing Hypnosis in Indianapolis.Wendy Meekins

There are many pathways that lead to healing. In much of the western hemisphere, pharmaceuticals are often, if not the only, treatment modality of choice by many US health care providers. While Western medicine is empirical and focuses on treating specific diseases, traditional Eastern medicine views the body as a connected whole, and often uses a variety of treatments including herbal medicine, massage, yoga, meditation, chiropractic and acupuncture (to name just a few). In the West, the drug-therapy-only approach is slowly changing, as we recognize that other modalities play a significant role in healing the body, mind and spirit. There has been a slow but steady trend of blending Western and Eastern treatment modalities in the US. This trend is not going away – it will continue to grow and become more mainstream over the coming years.

Hypnosis is another effective pathway that offers profound healing

It is understandable that people think of hypnosis as being “new age,” yet self-hypnosis is something that each of us experience multiple times per day. For example, whenever we daydream, we are in a hypnotic state. Modern hypnosis began with the work of 18th-century physician, Franz Mesmer. Dr. Mesmer was the first to develop a consistent method for hypnosis, which he passed on to, and was further developed by, his followers. Others who made significant contributions to the study of hypnosis/hypnotherapy include John Elliotson and James Esdaille (pioneered the use of hypnosis for surgical anesthesia) and James Briad (used eye fixation to induce hypnotic trance and established the word hypnosis). Dave Elman, in the mid-20th-century, developed a hypnosis induction technique that is still widely used today. Hypnosis/hypnotherapy, over the past century, has increasingly become an accepted healing modality for a variety of medical and psychological conditions.

How I Became Interested in Hypnosis

Pathways to Healing Hypnosis is a full service hypnosis center serving the greater Indianapolis, IN, area.

Like so many of us, I experienced a devastating major life trauma several years ago. Traditional therapies had minimal effect taking the emotional hurt and physical pain away. I was desperate to feel better, both physically and mentally, and was not sure where to turn for help.  I was introduced to hypnosis and was able to achieve powerful, impactful results through its use. I was amazed with the healing that occurred using hypnosis with just a few sessions. During hypnosis, I learned powerful tools and techniques to resolve issues at the source. This experience sparked my curiosity and motivated me to learn more about hypnosis/hypnotherapy. I decided to enroll in a hypnosis training course. Throughout my hypnosis training, I witnessed powerful healing that was achieved by clients seeking help for a variety of conditions. The majority of these clients also achieved healing in a short period of time. Hypnosis has now become my passion. Hypnosis is a healing pathway that achieves amazing results!
